How I Showed Up in April…Even When It Felt Like I Didn’t

April was heavy for your girl.

I felt a bit like a ghost.. like I was here, pero not really. Present, pero deep inside myself.. head, heart + body. Not disconnected from who I am, but from the version of me that shows up online. I needed to retreat into the quiet.

Because my real life offline was LOUD. My ADHD + Fibromyalgia got loud too.

Grief came to visit. And she brought a suitcase.

Grieving the loss of a home. The loss of the space I carefully curated and built from scratch, to have to throw most of it away or lock it up in hopes of returning to it again in the future.
Letting go of the idea that family would ever truly believe in + support me in this path.
The death of a dream I didn’t even know I was holding.

That kind of grief is layered. It sneaks up. It shows up as fatigue. Fog. Irritability. That kind of grief whispers “Why even bother?” on days I’d normally show up and shine.

As a creative, highly sensitive introvert navigating ADHD + fibromyalgia..

I live in my head and heart most days.

And when I don’t intentionally clear space for stillness, that space gets taken over by self-doubt, second-guessing, and imposter syndrome, especially in seasons like this.

April felt like a “lost” month. I know I wasn’t idle. But it felt like I got nothing done.

Because I didn’t feel 100%, it felt like I didn’t give 100%.
Because I wasn’t posting, it felt like I disappeared.
Because I wasn’t seen, it felt like I wasn’t showing up.

PERO feelings aren’t facts.

And when I finally paused long enough to look at what I actually did in April...

I saw a Jefa who stayed committed. Kept going. Pasito a pasito. Who led with heart through the grief. Who honored her energy even when her ego wanted her to “push through.”

📊 What April Actually Looked Like

  • Casita Events: 29 total.. including Cafecitos, Orientations, Hyperfocus sessions, Book Club, Strategy Calls. 5 of these were free community Cafecito + Co-working.

  • Workshops: Taught 2 workshops, morning and evening sessions for each one.

  • Client Work: 5 consults (3 converted), on-boarded 3 new Jefas in 1:1 Strategy Sprints, launched the Spring #JefaLife101 cohort, delivered a website that’s already helped my client book 5 new clients.

  • Photography: Documented a community event, photographed a Jefa’s branding session + a realtor listing, held 2 prep calls + booked a 3-day Summit in May.

  • Connection: 12 cafecitos with Jefas and amigas. Thank you for booking time!

  • Events & Community: Attended Blissful Vida Book Club, Bea’s Newsletter Workshop, Caffe Todo Mujer + Cafe Sone’s Mujeres Who Lead Event, Rosalie’s Book Launch Party, LA Times Festival of Books supporting Norma Fabian Flores + Heidi Rojas.

  • Learning & Creating: Listened to 7 audiobooks (3 new, 4 re-reads), published 5 blog posts, dropped an imperfect podcast episode, sent 12 emails, posted 6 IG posts/reels, hosted 2 IG lives, and one accidental thread.

  • Casita Milestone: Celebrated 1 year of the CCJ Casita with nearly 40 members and a leadership team of 10 amazing Jefas.

So yeah… I wasn’t online.
PERO I was present. I was working. I was healing.

This season is asking me to build differently. To lead from my values. To teach from lived experience, not pressure.

And that starts with practicing what I teach. Honoring my capacity + rhythm. Focusing on deep work. Letting the rest be extra.

💡 Reminder (for me and for you):

You don’t have to show your work for it to matter.
You don’t have to be seen daily to be valuable.
You don’t have to explain your absence to earn your return.

What matters is that you’re building.. consistently, intentionally, in alignment.

If you’re reading this and feeling behind, you’re not.

Take some time minutes and answer these:

  • Who are you?

  • What do you do?

  • Who do you serve?

  • How do you serve them?

  • Where are you based?

Then tell one person within the next 48 hours.

Because so many of us are quietly creating magic behind the scenes, doubting it’s “enough.”
Pero we don’t need more information. We need implementation.

🔥 A Peek at the #ShowUpJefa Strategy

Inside my programs like #JefaLife101, I walk Jefas through a strategy that builds confidence, content, and consistency without burnout.

I focus on teaching Jefas to build what you own:

  • Your Website

  • Your Email List

  • Your Blog (which you can later turn into a podcast or vlog)

Because Jefa, we don’t have the luxury of building on rented land.

💌 Come Home to the Casita

This #JefaLife can be lonely. You don’t have to do it alone.

There’s space for you inside the CCJ Casita.
Weekly accountability. Real connection. No pressure to be perfect.

Just bring your cafecito and come as you are.

Pasen adelante. 🏡
